Equipment Worksheets as an Alternative to Suggested Items: A Simple Way to Group Corresponding Items in Your Rental Software

Arielle Cox Arielle Cox

Most of us are already familiar with the concept of suggested items: optional ancillary products that automatically show up as add-ons when a customer rents a specific type of equipment.

But what if you have dozens of suggested items for a specific machine? Small pop-up windows may not present all the potential options – or they may take too long to scroll through.

Equipment Worksheets are a different way to group items in InTempo’s rental software so your sales and counter teams can easily offer them to customers as part of a new contract.

Let’s use scaffolding as an example.

Users can create a Scaffold worksheet, assigning each individual component of a scaffolding tower to this group of products. From there, when your counter team writes a new rental contract for a scaffolding tower, they can open the worksheet search, type in “scaffold”, and hit enter. The software will display each of the components you have on hand, as well as the current quantities (i.e., ten frames and 15 cross braces). The user can quickly select which items and how many to add to the customer’s contract, as they would with suggested items.

InTempo’s Equipment Worksheets make this process a bit easier, primarily due to the larger amount of real estate on the screen for reviewing the relevant items.

Once the user hits enter, the software confirms that they want to contract all the selected items and brings them all forward to the contract.

With Equipment Worksheets, it becomes easier to make sure you’re getting the customer everything they need. New employees who may not be deeply familiar with your inventory can still deliver a high level of service, helping you position your rental business as a trusted advisor. Perhaps a customer wants to rent out a skid steer; even a brand-new employee will know to ask if they want a smooth bucket or a ripper bucket. Or, for a customer renting an air compressor: how many hoses, points, chisels, and ties? You leave less to chance; your team is armed with all the necessary questions to get the customer what they need.
